Bangor is associated with the oldest cathedral foundation in Britain, dated c.525, & dedicated to St Deiniol. It grew into a large industrial town in the 19th C

Thanks for your feedback. In the early 19th century Bangor was a relative large industrial town whose population quadrupled between 1801 and 1841. The opening of the slate quarries of Bethesda - slate was shipped across the world from Bangor, led to many subsidiary industries being established at Bangor including slate processing works, writing slate manufacturing, foundries and major ship building.
